VDW-Award 2007

The quality of German advertising films reached international standards long ago. Every year, well over a hundreds advertising films are produced in Germany for cinema and TV and they are finding more and more recognition. However it’s still the case that many of the creative minds and many of the people behind a successful advertising film remain virtually unknown. The creative output and immense technical and organizational effort that go into a production are still not appreciated sufficiently.

With this in mind, the Association of German Advertising Film Producers (VDW) is making a contribution to the growing significance of this sector by initiating the vdw award, which will be presented for the sixth time in 2007, thereby creating a forum for the advertising spot and the creative people in this business. The vdw award aims to pay tribute to the artistic quality of exceptional advertising spot productions and place the people involved in producing these films in the limelight.

By awarding prizes in 15 categories, the best commercial, student and international commercials will be honoured along with their authors, directors, camera people, stylists and actors – in a nutshell, everyone who has left their mark on successful productions with their professional output and made it possible for us to enjoy these small-format cinematic works of art.

For this reason, the competition is open to everyone involved in the production of an advertising film. The jury also reflects adequately the different areas that the people involved in advertising films work in.
